Dramatic video captures the moment an off duty police officer took a bite out of would-be gun-toting crooks during a routine dental checkup.

An unnamed Brazilian police officer is captured being seen by the dentist on surveillance camera footage at around 10 a.m., when armed criminals forced patients and staff into the room at knifepoint according to Globo.com.

The 46-year-old cop, a member of Brazil’s Federal District Military Police, is seen getting up from the chair with his hands up and going down to the ground in the city of Ceilandia.

The thief goes to look for the cop, and searches his pockets. He then turns the tables, and wrestles the suspect down, and then holds him at gunpoint.

According to Newsweek, a second criminal then enters the room and charges at the officer. The hero cop also punches him to the ground after he is shot and injured.

According to the outlet, it was not life-threatening.

Both 19-year old suspects were taken into police custody.
