Embracing the Mobile Era:  The Revolution of DevOps Engineering

In 2021, the tech world anointed ‘DevOps Engineer’ as the most desirable job, and with good reason.  The Mobile DevOps market, then worth $7 billion, forecasts an exhilarating surge to $51 billion by 2030.  This translates to an astonishing 24.7% CAGR, demonstrating the escalating demand for Mobile DevOps engineers.

With the advent of 2022, market indicators highlighted this growing demand: a rise of 11% in app downloads, a 14% increment in mobile ad spending, and a 3% increase in in-app usage time.  Simultaneously, the hiring focus tilted towards DevOps and mobile development skills, signifying an expected 21% rise in DevOps engineer roles by 2028.

Businesses today, including 33% of American retailers, 42% of small businesses, and 55% of millennial-owned businesses, are capitalizing on mobile platforms as a primary revenue generator.  However, with the escalating reliance on mobile applications and increasing competition, the demand for Mobile DevOps engineers also surges.

Despite faster mobile deployment being a necessity, developers cite a lack of automation as a roadblock.  The increasing vulnerability of mobile apps to cyber threats underscores the importance of DevSecOps, which is set to grow at a CAGR of 31.50% by 2029.  The demand for DevOps tools, specifically CI/CD, is consequently increasing.

The CI/CD tools, adopted by one in five developers, bring efficiency, speed, and quality to the Mobile DevOps engineering process.  With Bitrise, utilized by over half of all mobile unicorn startups, the future of Mobile DevOps engineering is promising, with an expected expansion in jobs, a surge in demand, and an enhancement in deliverable quality.  In the words of Barnabas Birmacher, Bitrise CEO, “Being mobile-first means companies are constantly optimizing.”
