Advancing Healthcare with AI Agents
The usage of AI in enterprise software applications is expected to surge from 1% to 33% by 2028. Because of this, these agents are increasingly becoming healthcare’s newest workforce. This means that autonomous and high performing agents will be able to take care of more mundane, administrative healthcare tasks, such as insurance capture and processing, prescription refill request processing or prior authorization submission.
These bots are most often used to address administrative burden. Many tasks previously done by professionals can now be done using AI. Not only does this give doctors and other practitioners more time back in their day, but it can be more cost effective and quicker than traditional methods.
Reducing this burden on medical professionals can lead to a greater quality of life for patients and for doctors. While practitioners can have more time to take care of those who matter most, patients can enjoy faster diagnoses, customized treatment and more face-to-face time with staff. Studies are showing that over 70% of healthcare workers think that AI agents in healthcare will be essential to healthcare in the next five years. So long as AI continues to be a helpful tool, bridging the gap between interest and adoption could be closer than we think.
