Trooper fires round on RFK Bridge after driver hits him

According to police sources, a New York State trooper was hit by a vehicle and shot at least one bullet from the ramp leading to the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge. This happened Sunday afternoon.

A NYPD spokeswoman stated that the gunfire started at 1:57 PM at the bridge entrance. It was not known who the intended target was. According to police sources, the officer was hit by a vehicle.

The spokeswoman referred further questions about the shooting to the state police, but they weren’t answering a press line Sunday afternoon.

Traffic was backed up on the RFK Bridge after the incident.
Following the incident, the RFK Bridge was closed to traffic.
