$2.5 Million Raised at Jones Beach Breast Cancer Walk
The annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk took place at Jones Beach on Long Island on October 15, 2017.
The event, hosted by the American Cancer Society, raised $2.5 million from over 60,000 participants.
“This walk is very close to my heart because my mom had early signs of breast cancer, so it is just so inspiring that so many people come out to support the cause,” said Tammy Karikal, a walk participant.
In 2015, 50,000 people attended the walk and raised a collective $2.7 million dollars, making it the largest walk in the country, according to Newsday.
