Billy Crystal assists with Long Beach basketball courts

Actor Billy Crystal donated $1 million to renovate the city’s the basketball courts that were destroyed by Hurricane Sandy last year. The World Ventures foundation and the Nancy Lieberman Foundation collaborated with Crystal to make the renovations possible. Lieberman, a Long Beach native who is a member of multiple halls of fame, including the Hampton Road, Women’s Basketball, Naismith Memorial Basketball and New York City Basketball Halls of Fame, came back to her hometown to share with children a place that she herself feels safe. These courts are now officially know as the Dream Court.

New York City Governor Andrew Cuomo and town officials were in attendance for the festivities. Crystal, Lieberman, Cuomo and others participated in cutting the ribbon to officially open the courts to the public
