Danielle Bitts’ last year on the collegiate softball field

After overcoming two hip surgeries in 2014, softball player Danielle Bitts, 22, is ready for her last year at first base with the Hofstra Pride. Bitts is expected to graduate in May 2016 with a Masters in Journalism.

Although playing college softball will be over soon, Bitts wants the game that she has loved ever since she was a little girl to remain a part of her life, personally and professionally.

Bitts and the women’s softball team will give it another shot this fall. The team was eliminated from the NCAA Gainesville Regional with a 3-2 loss against Florida last month.

Whatever happens, Bitts says, “the dirt’s always going to be there for me.”
