Long Island Report

When you mention the names WIlliam and Kate today, it’s likely that the first people that would come to mind would be Prince William and Kate Middleton.

However, almost 80 years ago Long Island was the proud home to another William and Kate; William and Kate Hofstra, the patrons of Hofstra University.

Many Long Islanders are avid British Royal-watchers but few realized the connection between the shared names of the couples.

So I set out to see if students here at Hofstra University were aware that their patrons shared the same name as the future King and Queen of England.
