Jones Beach Hosts Its 14th Annual Out of the Darkness Walk

The 14th annual Out of the Darkness Walk, which spreads awareness about suicide prevention, was held at Jones Beach this Sunday. The Long Island walk is the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s third-largest walk with about 5,000 people in attendance.

“Each year we get bigger and bigger,” said Ann Morison, the Long Island Director for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. “We want to grow even bigger because the issue of mental health awareness and suicide prevention is so important. As we get the message out to the community, we’re seeing more and more people coming out to support us.”
